Top Display Ideas

I love displaying our student’s artwork in unusual ways and over the years have collected my favourite ideas such as artwork on the sides of stacked boxes, using wire to make work ‘pop out’ of the wall, displaying work on staircases or outside.

Cans, boxes, wire, stairs

Why not display work glued to recycled materials such as soda cans or cardboard boxes? I love the idea that the boxes can be moved, and student’s artworks rearranged by the students themselves. By using hot glue, you can stick wire onto the back of artworks.  If the art is small and not too heavy, you can attach artwork to a wall display, yet make it look as if it is a little 3D and pops out from the wall. By moving the wire and twisting them differently, students can be a little more interactive with the displays and slightly change the ‘look’ of the artwork.

Chinese New Year & Outdoor Art

Spending 6 years working in China enabled me to understand how significant the Lunar New Year celebrations are. Over the years our school created some very innovative outdoor art to help our community celebrate. Depending on the animal for the year, we found a company that cuts out student’s animal designs. We then paint them with acrylic paint and waterproof them before displaying them for our whole school to see.

We have also tried making mini art displays outside by painting rocks, or paintbrushes and waterproofing them, laminating artwork sometimes works, and we love to display artwork over some unsightly fences around our school.
